Catherine passed the 5th month milestone and now she is officially in the 6th month. So far, we have seen slow and steady progress with some drawbacks. Her legs, arms and torso are showing improvements. Right now the major problem area is her face. In this month, we noticed that flare ups now occur weeks apart and some red spots are finally fading. We are no longer using antihistamine and we are tapering off moisturizers. Recent evidence shows that moisturizer withdrawal is essential for TSW recovery [1]. Time flies! I hope we can see the light at the end of the tunnel soon.

Today is my first day using protopic 0.01% cream on my face and it is burning, hot and itchy on my face. This has been going on for 2 hours now and i can tell if its a side effect or if its irritating my face.. How long/ how do you know if I should stop this or not?

When you use Protopic you may experience some burning, stinging or itching at the beginning. Those sensations diminish as time goes by.

Protopic suppresses the immune system and is used for moderate to severe eczema. The information leaflet for it shows that long term use danger is not known. And that there may be a correlation between its use and cancer. Oozing is a sign of tsw. Dr. Rapaport said NOT all oozing and redness is a sign of infection.
