Catherine is almost a 7 year old girl that has been off Topical Steroid Creams and Protopic for six years. Catherine had eczema since she was 2 months and she was prescribed with potent steroid creams continuously for one year. Then, she stopped responding to the medicines and her skin got worse. She was suffering from Steroid Induced Eczema, not real eczema. That's the reason why we stopped steroids by October of 2013.

Hello there,
I am doing a follow up to a paper I wrote last year on 26 blogs about TSW in children, on which I will be doing a poster presentation next week at Northeastern University in Boston. https://tswresearchgroup.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/systematic-review-of-tsw-in-children-diagnosed-with-eczema-rev.pdf

I didn't see a current update on your blog, so would you please provide the following information:
1) What month TSW is Catherine?
2) Are there still TSW signs/symptoms or just eczema or both?
3) If you feel TSW is "over," at what month was it over?
4) How are you managing current eczema, TSW, other skin issues.

I sincerely hope Catherine is thriving and doing well. The information you provide will one day help prevent TSA/TSW from happening in kids like ours.

Hello Rosemarie,

Thank you for stoping by, I haven't been able to update my daughter's blog since we have a normal life again. I'm currently working and she is going to school now.

Regarding your questions,

1) She is in the 29th month
2) Sometimes she is itchy, but her skin is so strong now that there is no signs of eczema
3) For us, it was over in 21 months,
4) She is on a special diet and we are introducing foods little by little. Now she is able to eat a lot of foods that she wasn't able to eat while she was in withdrawal

Hi Mommy,

My baby is 10 months now and on steroids since she is 4 months. We noticed too that she is becoming dependent on steroids and I would want to know how did you taper off Catherine from steroids?
